I taught myself design by watching YouTube videos and practicing day and night in Photoshop & Illustrator. No degree, no mentor or a formal training. Just an obsession and a laptop.

For years, that felt like a disadvantage. I assumed the great designers had something I didn’t. Some secret knowledge passed down through design school or a senior creative director or years inside a prestigious studio.

For example, why Saul Bass designs like that? How does Josef Müller-Brockmann think of layout?

Turns out, what they had was a point of view. A way of seeing the world that shaped every decision they made. And the only way to build one is by making a lot of work and paying close attention to how you think, what you believe in, and what you’re actually doing while you make it.

I didn’t know that until much later. That realization changed everything about how I approach design. And that’s exactly what I want to show you.

**Why Design Posters?**

Posters are one of the most demanding formats in design. You get one surface, one moment, and zero room to hide behind content or interaction. Every decision is visible.

That’s what makes them the best training ground for developing your eye, your instinct, and your point of view.
