Working for seven days straight on a 12-hour shift without taking a break is a danger to society. The workforce that is. Doing it because of love, “passionate” about your work to that extent will affect the entire workforce. Starting with the people you work with. There is nothing wrong with working. Ultimately everyone has to make a living.

But how do you make a living? By falling in love with your job, doing weird things? By working more hours because you can? Or going the extra mile? And why? Because of love? No matter how passionate you are about your job, you need to remember the position you are in represents a group of people all over the world doing what you do.

As a fellow labourer who happens to work shifts and have chosen what I call “the worst career” for a woman. I have seen how the decisions we make as workers are slowly becoming a problem and one we have created. Agreeing to things that don’t make sense not only affects the people you work with but the entire workforce in a job market that is already strained.
