Design and Dynamic Island

The design of the iPhone 14 Pro is a true testament to Apple's commitment to creating devices that are both stylish and well built. The combination of Ceramic Shield front, textured matte glass back, and stainless steel frame adds durability and gives the phone a premium, luxurious feel. Despite packing all the latest features, Apple kept the iPhone 14 Pro compact and easy to handle. It is slightly taller at 147.5mm and a bit thicker at 7.9mm than last year's model, but that does not take away from comfort and usability. It is the perfect size for one handed use.

The device comes with IP68 dust and water resistance, withstanding splashes and brief submersion up to 6 meters for 30 minutes. The camera bump is slightly more pronounced, giving a sleek sophisticated look. At the bottom there are two stereo speakers along with the Lightning port. Four gorgeous color options are available: space black, deep purple, gold, and silver.

The Dynamic Island transforms the front camera cutout into a captivating element. Key points:

• It gives the iPhone 14 Pro a distinct identity beyond upgraded internals.
• Constantly changing animations for various apps make each interaction visually engaging.
• Notifications and ongoing activities like music playback are visually represented with album icons.
• Apple Maps displays directions and distance, and calls show time and voice waveforms.
• A game called Hit the Island offers a fun Dynamic Island themed experience.
• More apps are expected to optimize animations over time.

Display

The display of the iPhone 14 Pro is truly a standout feature. With its Pro grade 6.1-inch LTPO OLED display, you get vibrant colors, deep blacks, and incredible clarity. The 120Hz refresh rate delivers buttery smooth scrolling, seamless animations, and overall fluidity. Whether navigating apps, browsing, or gaming, the high refresh rate ensures a fast responsive experience with higher FPS for exceptional gaming.

Brightness reaches a maximum of 1000 nits and peak of 2000 nits, making the screen easily viewable outdoors on a sunny day. The display supports HDR and Dolby Vision, bringing content to life with true to life colors, stunning contrast, and enhanced detail. Whether watching movies, viewing photos, or enjoying shows, the display ensures a cinematic experience.

Camera

The camera system takes mobile photography to new heights. The triple camera setup includes a 48MP main sensor with f1.8 aperture, a 12MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide. Low light photos and outdoor shots come out with exceptional clarity. The Photonic Engine enhances image quality, delivering brighter and more vibrant photos. Video features include 4K cinematic recording and Action mode for stable footage. The 48MP sensor also enables detailed ProRAW capture for editing.

Performance

The A16 Bionic outperforms everyone in its class. Apps launch instantly, games run smoothly, and multitasking is effortless. The 4nm process improves efficiency and sustained performance. Combined with iOS optimization, the iPhone 14 Pro feels fast and responsive for years.

Software and Safety

iOS 16 brings customization, Focus modes, and improved notifications. Safety features include crash detection that can call emergency services after a severe car crash, and Emergency SOS via satellite for off grid communication. These features make the iPhone 14 Pro more than just a camera phone; it is a safety companion.

Battery Life

Battery life is solid for a 6.1-inch phone. The efficient A16 chip and adaptive refresh rate help it last a full day of mixed use. Charging is limited to around 20 to 27W wired, which is slower than many competitors. MagSafe and Qi wireless charging are supported. For most users, battery is adequate but not class leading.
